The “RHCSA/RHCE Red Hat Linux Certification Study Guide, Seventh Edition (Exams EX200 & EX300)” is a great book that covers the recently released Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and the corresponding RHCSA and RHCE certification exams. It has a lot of great examples, exercises, and labs. Michael Jang and Alessandro Orsaria are the authors of this book. This new edition provides complete coverage of all official exam objectives for the new exams. You would think if anyone would understand the requirements of the GPL which is the licensing terms for a large percentage of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, it would be someone claiming to understand RHEL enough to write a certification book. If you are a total Linux beginner this is not the book for you, but if you already have a good start and have been doing some administration you will very much enjoy the switch up from the ‘everyday Linux book’ to exciting tasks. This book is excellent. This is not to say it is without its flaws. This book will not take a novice up to RHCE level, you do need to have a solid understanding of basic Linux and general computing concepts, to begin with, and having a solid understanding of filesystems and a basic understanding of networking won’t hurt either. If you have the basics under your belt it will certainly take you up to the level you need to pass the exams, but your studying doesn’t end with that exam, you’ll need to keep reading and studying to become competent and comfortable on the job.
