“Welcome to the Universe: An Astrophysical Tour” is a great book, managing to be both hugely informative and entertaining. It is undoubtedly the best and most comprehensive book. Neil deGrasse Tyson, Michael Strauss and J. Richard Gott are the authors of this amazing book. This is essentially a quick primer on astrophysics, written in a clear and easy to understand manner without dumping down the contents. The book covers fun topics including black holes, warp drives, solar systems, galaxies, multiverses, superstring theory, M-theory, unique star types, space colonization, and time travel along with equations with basic algebra concepts explained throughout.  “Welcome to the Universe” is a concise and accessible summary of the state of human knowledge on Astrophysics. Neil deGrasse Tyson is obviously the most famous author of the three and a renowned communicator of science, and this book shows why. It deals with pretty advanced subjects, including M-theory, black holes, string theory, etc., but manages to distil them to a level accessible to anyone who has had some science in high school or college. They also make good use of diagrams and illustrations. In some ways, this book is the heir apparent to Stephen Hawking’s “The Universe in a Nutshell.” It would make for a great holiday gift for anyone interested in astronomy. This book is as enjoyable a read as it is informative and easy to consume. A great overview of the state of play in astrophysics with very recent information and discoveries.
