“Stop Walking on Eggshells: Taking Your Life Back When Someone You Care About Has Borderline Personality Disorder” is a great book for practical info for folks with a loved one with Borderline Personality Disorder. Paul Mason MS and Randi Kreger are the authors of this attraction book. This book is an invaluable resource for those of us with a family member or loved one who has been diagnosed with BPD or displays BPD characteristics. It does a great job explaining the various ways that BPD can present and the traumas or beliefs that the person suffering may feel. The book describes perfectly the behaviour of the person our family is concerned about. It gives great insight into that person’s feelings and the causes of inappropriate behaviour. Now, we as a family will try to follow some of the instructions for meeting that person’s needs. We will be more understanding of what we can be doing to earn that person’s trust and work on our own responses when she is unable to control her emotions. This book does a good job of describing the behaviour, but it’s not really about stopping walking on egg-shells. It just teaches you how to walk on eggshells better. As long as there is a person with BP in your life, you will be walking on eggshells. This just gives you more insight on how to be better prepared when things blow up on you again. When it comes right down to it, BP’s behaviour is abuse, and it’s very destructive to everyone involved. Overall a great read for a beginner who wants to know more about borderline personality and how to deal with it.
