The Duchess Deal
by Tessa Dare
384 Pages · 2015 · 1 MB · 31 Downloads · New!
“The Duchess Deal: Girl Meets Duke” is a beautiful story with two unforgettable characters and a romance that will make you swoon all the time. Tessa Dare is the author of this book. The Duchess Deal takes the familiar romance trope of a poor but genteel woman who enters into a marriage of convenience with an obscenely rich nobleman and gives it a refreshing, fun reboot as only Tessa Dare can do. Emma may be alone in the world, but she refuses to let life’s trials beat her down. She hides her fears, whether she’s facing down a strange duke or admitting that she loves him. Few women, no matter how desperate to get paid, would show up at the home of a duke who has just had his betrothal ended and demand that she pay for his former fiance’s gown. Fewer still would show up wearing the dress- and then not kill the man who compares her creation to “unicorn vomit”. When Ash snaps at her or tells her she can call him ‘Duke’ if she has to be familiar, she starts keeping lists of the most ridiculous pet names she can come up with to call him. Ash is a deeply wounded hero who tries to retreat from the world to protect him. He’s listened to a few people tell him he’s a monster and so he refuses to believe he could be anything else. He tries to keep Emma at an impersonal distance, rejecting her before she can reject him. He fights her every step of the way as she drags him back to being himself. But his wicked sense of humour and basic decency still manage to come through like when he pretends to be a demon and menaces Emma’s vicar father. In short, it is a must-read for Tessa Dare fans and romance fans.

Shelter in Place
by Nora Roberts

The Shelter in Place is a story of rebuilding, moving on, and growing. Nora Roberts is the author of this novel. Nora Roberts is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of more than 200 novels. Her most popular novels are The Liar, The Collector, Whiskey Beach, The Witness, and many more. Terrifying and heartbreaking, and in true Nora R fashion, draws you in until the characters are right there beside you, smiling, crying, breathing. The romance took a bit to heat and discover, but that’s actually okay. It is actually better the romance part waited, because neither was ready for it until then. Ms. R is fabulous with relationships, especially family ones, and here, we would say the family is the romance, the love, if you will. From the ‘traditional’ family structure to the hero who made his own family, it all was so well. It is a story of rebuilding, moving on, and growing. Not just maturing but actually growing and of PTSD, something so rarely is spoken of and acknowledged. Each character fought his/her own demons and battles. Some won. Some didn’t. But all changed from who he/she was at the start to who he/she was at the end. And that’s the hope we all have, isn’t it? To simply live life the way it should be lived, even when bad things happen.
