But on this journey, the colonists were released after only 15 years due to a fault. Then things continued to get worse for these teenagers as they struggled to survive. The 50 or 60 survivors quickly discover that their Artificial Intelligence has for unknown reasons, first initiated and then halted the abort sequence. If you enjoy sci-fi with huge backdrops but drilled down and focused well developed characters, you will dig this. Bonus points if you are a noir fiction fan. One other note, this book aims to illuminate what the author imagines as an “in between” or middle stage of humanity’s journey out of the solar system. While many sci-fi stories focus on the near future and many others use the far-flung future as the grist for their tales. That said, this is an epic saga worthy to be called sci-fi.
