In this novel, the author describes 500 colonists have been sent across the stars to settle an alien planet.
Once the ship landed the eggs were grown in vats and were to remain in the vats for 30 years learning their particular vocation. But on this journey, the colonists were released after only 15 years due to a fault. Then things continued to get worse for these teenagers as they struggled to survive. The 50 or 60 survivors quickly discover that their Artificial Intelligence has for unknown reasons, first initiated and then halted the abort sequence.
