The “Deep Water Blues” is an amazing biographical fiction of Fred Waitzkin. Fred Waitzkin was born in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1943. When he was a teenager, he wavered between wanting to spend his life as a fisherman. His memoir, Searching for Bobby fisher was made into a major motion picture released in 1993. He writes another book including The Last Martin, Mortal Games, and The Dream Merchant. He spends more time on the bridge with his old boat. In Deep Water Blues, the technique Fred uses alternating between telling the story of his voyage to Rum Cay Island and the history, that make it difficult to put the book down.Fred Waitzkinsees below the surface of life as if he is snorkeling through it, watching the curling sharks single out their overconfident prey. Even as some novelists give you characters who are “larger than life” Waitzkin gives you characters that are the very essence of the life itself.

The Identicals
by Elin Hilderbrand

“The Identicals” is as readable as any beach book, but with a much bigger heart.  Elin Hilderbrand is the author of this beautiful novel. The author has once again written an engaging story wonderfully illustrating the often complex lives of young people struggling toward adulthood. It is sweet, charming and well written for the readers of all ages. The twist in the plot is super cool but the tragedy in the book and how the characters responded to it is really very depressing. It’s dramatic, from the start to the finish, there is drama. It was an excellent read including all of the teenage personalities and the things they struggle with while growing up. The tragedy was there but it was necessary for the rest of the book. It is a beautiful ending to the book as well. We highly recommend it for everyone because it is not just a summer read.
